Mosaic Academy Trust- Sports Events 2024

We want to thank Ryan Walker of Barrs Court Primary School for organising various sports events for the Mosaic Academy Trust. These events have brought together teachers, children, and parents/carers in a wonderful display of community support, making them a huge success. Below is Ryan’s summary of each sporting event held so far:

Every Mosaic Academy Trust school was invited to take part in the following sports events in the summer term.

Year 2 Inter-School Sports Day

Schools participating- Barrs Court, Parkwall, The Park

Overall champions- Barrs Court

Summary– Taking place at Pomphrey Hill outdoor sports area, the Year 2 Sports Day was a mixture of traditional sports day events.  The children competed in events such as the 50m dash, egg and spoon race, sack race and skipping race as well as a range of throwing and jumping events.
Year 5/6 Kwik Cricket tournament

Schools participating-  Barrs Court (A & B), Parkwall, The Park

Overall champions- Barrs Court A

Summary–  All four teams played against each other in a mini-league format.  There was some great batting and fielding on show and above all, great sporting behaviour and respect between the teams.

Whole-school skipping challenge

Schools participating- Barrs Court, Box Primary, Broadway Infants, Redfield Edge, Neston Primary, The Ridge

Overall champions- Box Primary

Summary-  Schools challenged their pupils to skip on the spot for 1 minute each in this virtual event.  All the data was collected to see the top number of skips in a minute as well as the overall average for each year group.

Key Stage 2 Swimming Gala

Schools participating– Barrs Court, Parkwall, The Park, Redfield Edge, Raysfield, The Ridge, St. Stephen’s

Overall champions-  Redfield Edge

Summary– The gala was split into two sections- a Year 3/4 set of races followed by a Year 5/6 set of races.  The children competed in races involving all four strokes as well as a number of relay races.  It was a great atmosphere with a supportive crowd of parents from all schools involved.  A special mention to Parkwall Primary pupils for their incredible support of all the children taking part, not just supporting their own school.
